Adrio’s heart to help his peers and community started in kindergarten and was a big part of who he was. Adrio was a high-achieving student, graduating at 16, and was a valedictorian. Adrio had speech challenges that made it hard for Adrio to say his name “Adrio” and he came up with Lalo Boy. The LaloBoy Foundation was named after "LaloBoy", Adrio's childhood nickname.
Adrio Romine died by suicide on May 11, 2019, at the age of 17 years of age. An internet predator had online influence over Adrio on how to die by side. Suicide does not discriminate. Our teens today face a myriad of unique challenges and pressures that can lead to depression and other mental health concerns.
The LaloBoy Foundation was founded by Paolla Jordan (Adrio’s Mom) and Meritxell Adria (his sister) to assist families needing financial assistance to pay for counseling support services for their children.
Continued Support By LBF
LBF can provide community awareness, through expanding “the talk” on mental health resources to the families LBF serves. LBF provides parent and family education on various topics, including Internet Safety in English and Spanish. LBF will continue to support families experiencing challenges in their lives with mental health and suicide prevention resources.
Financial Assistance for Children
LaloBoy Foundation provides financial assistance (award) to families in need of mental health services for their children. This program intends to help families with financial need to overcome the barriers preventing access to services for their children's current needs. Our application process is simple, and our team is driven to ensure that no family in our community feels alone.
